Salty Sow
The rosemary honey dipped fried chicken is two pieces fried to a crisp finish and doused in rosemary honey, served with a biscuit, and it runs at happy hour.1
Why go
Nicolai McCrary scored it 7.9 for The Infatuation and says of that chicken, These are a Happy Hour special that alone is worth the visit.
1 The kitchen states its own aim on its own page: Chef Harold Marmulstein blending slow-cooked Southern tradition with Texas comfort, sourced from local farms and purveyors.2 That sourcing claim shows up most clearly on the vegetable side of a meat-heavy menu, in a brussels sprout Caesar that keeps the bitterness rather than sweetening it out.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the rosemary honey dipped fried chicken, at happy hour, which the venue's own page puts at 4pm to 6pm daily.2 Add the brussels sprout Caesar and the triple-fried duck fat fries.
- Drink: the frozen blood orange margarita on the patio in warm months, or the maple glazed Old Fashioned inside. Both are the reviewer's picks off a list he describes as classics and riffs on classics done well.1
- Avoid: treating the crisp chicken thighs as the centerpiece. They are cooked well and sit in a rich neck bone gravy over smashed potatoes, and McCrary's verdict is the calibrated one:
This probably won't be the highlight of your meal, but you won't be disappointed either.

- The kitchen, in its own words:
Chef Harold Marmulstein blends slow-cooked Southern tradition with bold, fresh flavors that are pure Texas comfort, mindfully sourced from local farms and purveyors.
2 No Austin outlet has published a profile of Marmulstein, so where he trained is not on the record here.
Good to know
- Where it is: 1917 Manor Road, Cherrywood. The saved pin is accurate to about 50 meters.
- Hours: Sunday to Thursday 4pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday to 10pm, with happy hour daily from 4pm to 6pm. Evening service only, so this is not a lunch option.2

- Hygiene: Austin Public Health scored the kitchen 92 on 15 July 2025, 93 on 14 March 2025 and 93 on 23 August 2023. Nothing below 70, no finding, and the record is flat.3
Verdict
could-visit — An Infatuation 7.9 for a Manor Road room that came out of the early-2010s gastropub wave and never left it. The dish to plan around is the rosemary honey dipped fried chicken, two pieces fried crisp and doused, served with a biscuit, which McCrary says alone is worth the visit. It runs at happy hour, and the venue's own page puts happy hour at 4pm to 6pm daily, so the good order and the cheap order are the same order. Chef Harold Marmulstein states the aim as slow-cooked Southern tradition sourced from local farms; the brussels sprout Caesar is the vegetable that follows from it, a classic dressing with the bitterness left in.
