Gemma
Dinner at Gemma opens with a warm raisin scone, which the MICHELIN inspector calls
simple sounding but sinfully delicious.1
Why go
Stephen Rogers and Allison Yoder met working at Press in Napa Valley, which holds a MICHELIN star, and came back to Rogers's home state to open this.15 The room has been on Henderson Avenue more than a decade and started life as a bright French-leaning bistro before it settled into what Eater calls a romantic neighborhood spot with a touch of Americana.
4 The card runs a raw bar, pasta made in the kitchen and meat over wood.4 It took a Bib Gourmand at the MICHELIN Guide's first Texas selection in 2024 and kept it in 2025, and the James Beard Foundation made it a nominee for Outstanding Hospitality in 2024, which is an award for how the room treats you rather than for the cooking.23
Order this / avoid
- Order: the Idaho trout almondine or the roasted heirloom carrots. Those are the two plates the inspector says
make a meal here memorable.
1 - Order: the fried Castelvetrano olives, which come mixed with Texas pecans.1
- Order: the caviar-topped tater tots, which Eater uses as the shorthand for how this room dresses.4
- Finish on the Meyer lemon tart,
with notes of lavender and kisses of toasted meringue.

What locals & experts say
- Eater Dallas, Rachel Pinn, Spring 2026:
More than a decade in, Gemma has earned its keep as an essential Dallas restaurant.
4 - Eater on who the room is for:
Like the bistro's caviar-topped tater tots, both casual and dressed up guests fit in just fine here.

Good to know
Verdict
should-visit — A seasonal American room run by two people who met cooking at Press in Napa and have been at this one address more than ten years, which shows up as a raw bar, house pasta and meat over wood on the same card. Order the trout almondine and the heirloom carrots, and let the kitchen open you with the raisin scone.
