What locals & experts say
- RJ Yoakum, chef at Sushi Kozy, in his own published Dallas guide:
It's like American/Vietnamese, and the chef is Serbian, ironically enough. It's a Bib Gourmand restaurant that got awarded this year. Garlic noodles are amazing that they make in-house, the Swiss chard tempura is one of my favorite things, and foie gras beef dumplings.
4 - Toby Archibald, chef at Quarter Acre, asked for his current Dallas favorites:
Encina, Mot Hai Ba and Taco y Vino.
5 - Reilly Brown, chef at Frenchie, asked the same question:
Meridian, Georgie, Loro, Quarter Acre, Mot Hai Ba.
6 - Eduardo Osorio, chef at Meridian:
Encina and Mot Hai Ba. I need to explore more this year.
7 - Yoakum on Krstic himself:
The chef, Peja Krstic, is a super good friend, and he kind of welcomed me in here in Dallas and was like the first friend I had, but also like an older brother.

Verdict
must-visit — A Serbian chef cooking Vietnamese flavors through French technique in Lakewood, with the noodles cut in the kitchen and the dumplings built rather than assembled. Order the garlic noodles, the Swiss chard tempura and the foie gras dumplings, and put the blue crab-stuffed leeks on the table for everyone.
