Pizzeria 1926
There is a pizza named for Maradona, and the people who make it also run Locanda de Gusti.1
Why go
Writing in March 2017, the Scotsman's pizza roundup recorded that this Dalry Road pizzeria was launched by the creative pair behind Locanda de Gusti, chef Rosario Sartore and his wife Maria
, specialising in Neapolitan pizza, and it picked out the Diegoal, named for Maradona, along with the 1926 and the Quattro Formaggi. The paper's own call was that the DOP Margherita is pretty hard to beat for purists.
1 That is nine years old and it is the only thing any quality source has published about the place, so read the menu detail as a 2017 snapshot. A hygiene inspection in February 2026 puts the pizzeria at the same address, so it is still open.2
Good to know
- Address: 85 Dalry Road EH11 2AA, ten minutes west of Haymarket.2
- How current this is: the dishes above come from 2017. Nobody has written about the restaurant since.
- Price: nothing published.
- Hygiene: Food Hygiene Information Scheme Pass, inspected 19 February 2026, FHRSID 1878283. Six months old.2
- Searching the hygiene register: a second row exists under the same name with a council care-of address and no street. It is an administrative duplicate, not a second shop.2
Verdict
could-visit — A Neapolitan pizzeria on Dalry Road opened by Rosario Sartore and his wife Maria, the pair behind Locanda de Gusti, which is the strongest thing on the row: their other restaurant is a serious southern Italian kitchen and this is what they did with pizza. The Scotsman's roundup rated the DOP Margherita as hard to beat for purists and there is a pizza named for Maradona. The catch is that all of this is from 2017 and nobody has written about it since, so what you have is a nine-year-old snapshot plus a fresh hygiene inspection proving it is still there. Could-visit, and overdue a look.
