Why go
No Edinburgh critic or guide has written a word about this shop. What exists is the FSA hygiene record, which puts it at 16 Roseneath Street in Marchmont as a takeaway with a current Pass, and Jeff's own one-line note.1 His shorthand is worth reading against the rest of his list: he files Bertie's as a modern chippy and this one as a classic, which is a distinction about the frying rather than the decor.

Verdict
listed — A chip shop on Roseneath Street in Marchmont, and nobody has written a word about it. Jeff's own note calls it a classic chippy, which in his shorthand is the distinction from a modern one - he files Bertie's separately as a modern chippy on the same list. Listed until somebody eats there and says something, and it is a proper upgrade candidate precisely because his note is not empty.
