Why go

Simon Rogan, the British chef behind L'Enclume, a three-MICHELIN-star restaurant in Cartmel in the Lake District, opened Roganic in a Causeway Bay shopping mall in 2019.71 In February 2025 he moved it to Lee Garden One. He told Gavin Yeung of the SCMP why: We'd outgrown it, and it was a little tired.12

He started the menu from nothing, with no existing dishes from the first Roganic or any of our other restaurants around the world, and dropped the tasting menu for plates the table shares. He says the format lets people eat conservatively or extravagantly, and You can be in and out in an hour or linger for three.1 Rubin Verebes, a Hong Kong restaurant reviewer who ate there in March 2025, liked the change: it makes fine-dining more fun and less serious.2

The dry-aged Guangdong duck, glazed with honey, is the dish of the new room. Verebes found it already a fan favourite within a few weeks of reopening in February, and wrote that the fruitiness of the sauces pair well to mellow out the gaminess of the duck whilst cosying up to the salty exterior shell, which is dressed in honey.2 The Hedonist HK blog ate it at the soft opening the same month and found the perfect balance of crispy skin, fat and tender flesh.3 By 2026 the kitchen was roasting it in longan honey with kalibos cabbage, blackcurrant and perilla.4

Both of those March 2025 eaters were regulars of the old room. Hedonist HK judged the new menu a step up from the previous one which was already very very good, and had one complaint: the dining room felt a little smaller than before and thus, it was a little noisier now due to the more cramped space.3 SCMP's 2026 guide, nearly a year after the move: The quality of the food remains excellent.4

Order this / avoid

  • On the menu: the dry-aged Guangdong duck. Verebes and Hedonist HK both ate it in March 2025.2
  • On the menu: the aged grouper with fried sweetcorn, bone jus and seaweed butter. Verebes in March 2025: My favourite of the new dinner menu is the aged grouper.2
  • On the menu: the raw bluefin tuna with kohlrabi, kombu, apple and apple-marigold juice. Verebes in 2025: It is pickled and creamy, which hits my sour tooth.2
  • On the menu: the cured Hainan mackerel and the beetroot salad, which Verebes found the strongest of the snacks in 2025.2
  • On the menu: the farmhouse tomatoes with fermented pistachio purée and tomato water. Hedonist HK in 2025: The tomato water was particularly impressive with its burst of freshness and sharp acidity.3
  • On the menu: the raw Hokkaido scallop with asparagus and smoked dashi, a HK$100 add-on in March 2025. Hedonist HK found some nice smokiness from the smoked dashi.3
  • On the menu: the Roganic waffles, made with wagyu fat and served with a dip of passion fruit curd and yogurt. Hedonist HK in 2025 put their savory-sweet flavors down to the wagyu fat.3

Verdict

should-visit — Go with friends for Simon Rogan's all-new menu of shared plates at Lee Garden One, and make sure the dry-aged duck is on the table. Both March 2025 eaters, regulars of the old Sino Plaza room, liked the change, though one found the new room smaller and louder. Lunch was HK$520 in March 2025.
