40ft Brewery Dalston
The specials come off a 40-inch pilot kit, so what is on that tap today is unlikely to be there next month.1
Why go
Ten taps pour beer brewed on site: the core range, plus limited editions, collaborations and whatever the pilot kit has run.1 Wine, a guest cider, cocktails and spirits fill the rest of the bar. The room holds just over 200 people across a heated covered deck and an indoor space, and the brewery calls the whole thing Dalston's back yard. SIBA, the independent brewers' trade body, named it the UK's best independent craft brewery taproom in 2021.
Order this / avoid
- Order: whatever the pilot kit made. Ten taps is a lot to work through and the small-batch line is the one that will not come round again.
- Avoid: turning up with a party. Up to twenty books through the venue's booking system and anything larger goes through the brewery direct, up to fifty with no minimum spend.1

- Groups: capacity just over 200; parties up to 50 with no minimum spend.
- Other doors: 40FT also runs a taproom on the Blackhorse Beer Mile in Walthamstow, which is a separate room.
Verdict
could-visit — Ten taps of beer brewed on the other side of the wall, and a 40-inch pilot kit producing the specials, limited editions and collaborations, which is the part of the list worth crossing Dalston for. SIBA, the independent brewers' trade body, named it the UK's best independent craft brewery taproom in 2021. The room takes just over 200 across heated covered decking and an indoor space, and a party of up to 50 can book it with no minimum spend, which is a rarer thing than it sounds. It stays mid-ladder because the brewery's own page is the only account of the place, no beer is named anywhere read this pass, and the award is five years old.
