All Good Beer
In the eleven days before this was written the six taps here poured Verdant twice, then Two Flints, Beak and Azvex, with no beer repeated (Untappd).
Why go
This is the resident bar of Hackney Downs Studios, a working complex of small businesses off Amhurst Terrace, and it started life as a bar at the back of Hiver on the Bermondsey Beer Mile before taking a unit of its own (The London Beer Guide). Six keg lines, no cask, two wine taps and about seventy bottles and cans in the fridge. CAMRA's East London and City branch describes the format as six taps of regularly rotating craft beers, two wine taps & loads of bottles in the fridge from the country's best breweries
(CAMRA). Everything is available to take away. There is no kitchen. The yard around it has food.
Order this / avoid
- Order: off the taps, since that is where the turnover is, and let the board decide. Then a can off the wall for later, because the same fridge serves both purposes.
- Avoid: Monday, when it is closed, and Sunday evening, when the doors shut at six. Do not come expecting dinner from this bar.
What locals & experts say
- CAMRA, East London and City branch, record updated 25 April 2026:
All Good Beer is open as the resident bar in Hackney Downs Studios. They have six taps of regularly rotating craft beers, two wine taps & loads of bottles in the fridge from the country's best breweries.
1 - The London Beer Guide, an enthusiast category guide, on this branch:
This bar is part of the Hackney Downs Studios complex - an excellent place to enjoy some beers, and the beer range is very high quality.
On where they came from:After starting up with a small bar at the rear of Hiver on the Bermondsey beer mile they eventually opened their own dedicated space on the northern edge of Hackney.
2 - No bylined writer has covered it. Searches on 30 July 2026 turned up CAMRA, the beer guide, listings sites and the venue's own channels. The rotation case therefore rests on a branch record and a check-in log, both dated above, and the entry says so rather than dressing it up.
Good to know
- Which site: this is Hackney Downs, 17 Amhurst Terrace E8 2BT, six taps and around seventy cans. The second site is All Good | N1 at 39 Balls Pond Road N1 4BW near Dalston Junction, a standalone bar with more space, eight taps and around fifty cans. Nothing written here is evidence about that one.
- Timing: closed Monday. Tuesday from 3pm, Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 10.30, Friday and Saturday to 11.30, Sunday noon to 6.
- Getting there: Rectory Road is 450 metres away and Hackney Downs 750 metres; the 276 stops close by.
- Access: step-free entry, and the branch record notes there is no accessible toilet.
- Takeaway: all the beer and wine can leave with you.
- The website: currently a holding page while the online store is rebuilt, so hours and stock are best checked on the bar's own socials.
- Hygiene: FSA rating 5, inspected 9 December 2025.5
Verdict
could-visit — A well-bought little beer bar in the corner of a studio yard, and the buying is the whole case for it. Six taps that turn over constantly, two wine taps, and about seventy cans in the fridge to drink in or carry out. In the eleven days before this was written the taps ran Verdant twice, Two Flints, Beak and Azvex, which is a buyer choosing properly rather than filling lines. CAMRA's branch record and an enthusiast guide independently rate the range highly, and the guide calls the beer range very high quality. The room is communal seating in an old studio complex with no kitchen of its own, so food comes from the other units in the yard. Set against that, this is Hackney, where a good rotating tap list is the neighborhood standard, and nobody with a byline has written about the place. Go if you are in E8 with an hour, take a can home, and note it is shut on Mondays and done by six on Sundays. The sibling on Balls Pond Road has eight taps and more room if you want to sit.
