Dinings SW3
Masaki Sugisaki cooked on the opening team at Nobu Berkeley Street, and since 2017 he has been cutting fish in a townhouse off Walton Street where the whole method is to leave it alone.
Why go
The restaurant sits in Walton House on Lennox Gardens Mews, at the Knightsbridge end of Chelsea, with a sushi counter, a bar and a small courtyard visible through the windows. Sugisaki is from Saitama and cooked in Japan before Nobu, and the venue's stated aim is "Combining his Japanese roots with European cooking techniques" while keeping sourcing "traceable and sustainable." That shows up as a menu of plain cuts and small assemblies rather than sauce work, which is why The Infatuation scored it 8.8 and Harden's surveyers rate the food 5 out of 5. Reckon on about 110 pounds a head. Lunch runs Wednesday to Sunday, dinner every night, and Monday is dinner only.
Order this / avoid
- Order: crispy rice with avocado, the lobster slider, scallop nigiri and maguro maki, all named by The Infatuation, whose reviewer wrote
We haven't tried anything here we haven't liked because the whole menu is a safe bet.
1 - Avoid: Monday or Tuesday lunch. The kitchen only does lunch from Wednesday.
What locals & experts say
- The Infatuation (Rianne Shlebak, 25 Jul 2024, 8.8):
perfect, uncomplicated fish, and nothing else,
in aclose-to-flawless meal,
in a room where theatmosphere is relaxed: people rock up in hoodies.
1 - Harden's (2026 survey):
Exceptional food… and great cocktails too,
rated food 5, service 4, ambience 4, at about 110 pounds per head.2 - On the name: Harden's records that SW3
shares its name with the older Marylebone Dinings of the same name… but is no longer connected.
The Harcourt Street original dates to 2006 and was set up by ex-Nobu chefs.4 - Local rec: Jeff picked it up from Instagram.
Good to know
- Timing: lunch Wednesday to Sunday from noon, dinner seven nights from 16:45, later on Thursday to Saturday. Sunday runs a no-corkage service. The venue's hours and Harden's listing disagree, and the venue's are used here.
- Booking: book. The room is small and it is a destination price point.
- Which Dinings: this is the Chelsea restaurant on Walton Street, opened 2017. Dinings at 22 Harcourt Street in Marylebone is a different business with the same name.
- Dress: no formality expected, per The Infatuation.
- Hygiene: FSA rating 5, Kensington and Chelsea, inspected 5 September 2025.
Jeff's take (his words)
- Note: "Fancy sushi. From insta rec." REAL.
Verdict
should-visit — Masaki Sugisaki came off the Nobu Berkeley Street opening team and has been cutting fish in a Walton Street townhouse since 2017, with Harden's surveyers rating the food 5 out of 5 and The Infatuation scoring it 8.8 for 'perfect, uncomplicated fish, and nothing else'. It runs about 110 pounds a head, which buys restraint rather than spectacle: crispy rice with avocado, scallop nigiri, a lobster slider. The room is small and relaxed enough that people show up in hoodies. Worth the detour for the sushi, and it is a separate business from the Marylebone Dinings despite the shared name.
