HIDE
Order any of about ten thousand bottles from Hedonism Wines at your table on Piccadilly, and allow fifteen minutes for it to arrive.1
Why go
The room relaunched in 2018 on the old Fakhreldine site, two floors looking over Green Park, under the same ownership as Hedonism Wines in Mayfair.1 That common ownership is the whole trick: the cellar next door is the wine list here. Ollie Dabbous built the cooking and left in early 2025, and Josh Angus has headed the kitchen since, with Harden's recording that ratings for the wonderfully presented and meticulously thought-through cuisine
held steady through the change.1 The two restaurants that opened here merged into one operation in 2022, so either floor now serves a la carte, a set menu or the eight-course tasting at 165 pounds.1 Breakfast has been the quiet reason to come since the start.1
Order this / avoid
- Order: breakfast, which Harden's diners call
a remarkable experience
, withthe classics served and some original dishes to boot
. They are specific about which one:the French toast is worth the admission price
.1 - Order: a bottle you would not otherwise drink, from Hedonism's list, and allow fifteen minutes.1
- Avoid: assuming the tasting menu is the better meal. Diners repeatedly say it is
nicer eating on the ground floor than being restricted to the much more expensive tasting menu upstairs

What locals & experts say
- Harden's survey diners, most recent edition:
What an experience to be sitting in front of Green Park with fantastic views being treated to a gastronomical journey, with a wine list longer than the Bible!
The same entry records cooking that leaves most dinersblown away with every visit
.1 - Harden's, on who it works for:
good space between tables so you can talk
, and one diner's tip,sit someone you want to do business with at the first-floor corner table above the junction of Clarges St and Piccadilly, and the deal is pretty much sealed
.1 - Harden's, printing the objection: there is
also a constituency who feel that for the nosebleed-inducing prices it 'should be better'
, and an earlier edition records thatnotwithstanding some amazing dishes, they don't always hit the top notes you expect at the price
, with the odd reporter finding the rooma bit sterile

Good to know
- Booking: essential. Service times are not published in anything reachable here.
- Money: the eight-course tasting is 165 pounds a head. Wine from 60 pounds a bottle, bread 6, filter coffee 6, service 15 percent.1
- The bar is in the basement and has its own following.1
- Who cooks: Josh Angus, since Ollie Dabbous left in early 2025. Most writing about this room describes the Dabbous years.1
Verdict
should-visit — The wine is the argument. HIDE shares an owner with Hedonism Wines around the corner, so you can sit down on Piccadilly, order any of about ten thousand bottles, and it walks over in fifteen minutes, which no other dining room in London can do. What you eat with it comes from a kitchen Ollie Dabbous built and Josh Angus has run since early 2025, and Harden's records that the ratings held through the handover. Breakfast has been the sleeper attraction since 2018, with the French toast singled out as 'worth the admission price'. On the other side, the recurring complaint across three editions is money: 'they don't always hit the top notes you expect at the price', and some diners find the two-floor room 'a bit sterile'. Go for a long breakfast over Green Park or for a bottle you would not otherwise get to drink.
