Mamak Don
The restaurant left 9 Parkway, and every listing still prints that address. It now trades at 261 Eversholt Street, one minute from Mornington Crescent tube.
Why go
Mamak Don cooks the Indian-Muslim roadside repertoire that gives the place its name: roti canai, nasi lemak, mee goreng, char kway teow, ayam percik, teh tarik. The move is confirmed by the venue's own Find Us page and by the food-hygiene register, which lists Mamak Don at 261 Eversholt Street NW1 1BA under Camden and holds no establishment at all at the old NW1 7PG postcode (FSA). The site it took over was May Ling, a Chinese takeaway. Service runs in two sittings with the kitchen closed through the middle of the afternoon. The new premises has not been inspected yet, so it carries no hygiene score.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the oat flakes prawns. Halal Girl About Town described the plate as prawns deep-fried and coated in cereal, where
The oats had been fried with garlic, chillies, and curry leaves to give a fragrant cereal that coated the deep-fried prawns.
1 Then roti with chicken curry, and teh tarik. - Avoid: the beef rendang and the prawn sambal. The same review found the rendang sauce
quite thin,
and the sambalextremely fish and too heavy on the shrimp paste.

What locals & experts say
- Halal Girl About Town (HGAT, 7 July 2018): ate nine dishes at the old Parkway room and landed on
Mamak Don sadly didn't make it on to my list, but it was a decent Malaysian.
She also called the rotiquite flat.
1 - Malaysian Food in UK, Facebook group (community signal, undated post):
Mamak Don in London has finally reopened at their new location at mornington crescent tube station.
4 Treat that as corroboration of the move, not as a verdict on the food. - Coverage gap, stated plainly: no Time Out page, no Harden's entry, and nothing in Vittles, Hot Dinners, the Camden New Journal or any chef-recommendation piece. One blogger in 2018 is the whole critical record.
- Local rec: Jeff's row records it as a local recommendation. REAL.
Good to know
- Address: 261 Eversholt Street, Mornington Crescent, London NW1 1BA. Roughly a minute from Mornington Crescent on the Northern line, and ten minutes on foot from Euston.
- Timing: the days that could be confirmed, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, run 12:00 to 15:00 and 17:30 to 22:30. Friday, Saturday and Tuesday did not come back. Check before traveling.
- Booking: walk-in.
- Price: the 2018 menu ran chicken satay at 5.90, roti with chicken curry at 5.50, and beef rendang at 8.50. Those are eight-year-old numbers, so treat them as a band and not a quote.
- Dietary: nothing is flagged. Directory sites describe halal and vegan provision, the venue's own statement could not be read, and mamak cooking being Indian-Muslim is not evidence on its own. Ask at the counter.
- Hygiene: FSA record 1918534, Camden, awaiting first inspection at the new address.
Jeff's take (his words)
- Note: "Local rec for simple tasty food" REAL. Worth asking whoever gave you the rec whether they ate at Parkway or since the move.
Verdict
could-visit — A cheap Malaysian mamak room that has just reopened by Mornington Crescent tube after leaving Camden Town, cooking the roadside-stall repertoire: roti canai, nasi lemak, char kway teow, ayam percik, teh tarik. The one reviewer on record found real cooking in the oat flakes prawns, where the cereal coating is fried with garlic, chillies and curry leaves before it meets the prawns, and found the rendang and the prawn sambal flat. That is a solid neighborhood option and a cheap lunch by Euston, and it is not a reason to cross London when Roti King is fifteen minutes away on foot.
