Yorkshire Burrito
The wrapper is a giant Yorkshire pudding, a steam-raised batter shell doing a tortilla's job, holding brisket, stuffing, rosemary roast potatoes and spinach under a reduced gravy (olive magazine).
Why go
Henry Preen built the format around a pub habit, the roast served inside an oversized pudding, and pitched it as British street food in a market where every other cuisine already had a stall. His line to olive magazine: one of the things we do best as a country is the Sunday roast
(olive magazine). The components are cooked properly rather than assembled from a hot-hold tray: brisket goes in slow with red wine, carrot, onion and celery; the chicken carries lemon, honey and black pepper in a white wine gravy; the gravy itself is the meat juices plus red and white wine and garlic, reduced hard. The stall has traded in Camden since 2015 by its own account, and has since spread to Buck Street's rooftop, both Boxparks and Walthamstow.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the beef brisket in red wine gravy, which is the filling with the longest cook on it. The vegetarian build is grilled cauliflower cheese in a mature cheddar sauce sharpened with mustard powder and white wine vinegar.
- Avoid: walking off with it. Hot gravy soaks a batter shell fast, and the pudding gives out within a few minutes of the first bite.
What locals & experts say
- olive magazine (Alex Crossley, 29 January 2018): Preen wanted to bring back
the pub tradition of serving roast dinner in giant Yorkshire puddings filled with gravy,
and saidone of the things we do best as a country is the Sunday roast.
1 - Camden Market (operator listing, 2026):
A quintessentially British roast, in a burrito.
2 - Coverage gap: no Time Out, Standard or Hardens write-up exists for this stall. The record is a trade interview and market copy.
Good to know
- Timing: Monday to Thursday 11am to 6pm, Friday to Sunday 11am to 7pm at the West Yard pitch.
- Booking: walk-in. Camden Lock queues hardest between 1pm and 3pm at weekends.
- Dietary: one vegetarian wrap, the cauliflower cheese. The cheddar sauce rules it out for vegans, and no gluten-free version exists for a batter wrap. Camden Market tags the stall halal but the trader has not confirmed it, so ask.
- Location: West Yard, Camden Lock Place, three minutes from Camden Town station. There is a second unit on the Buck Street rooftop.
Jeff's take (his words)
- Note: "Touristy, kitchy, but it's a thing." REAL.
Verdict
listed — A competent one-idea stall: a full roast dinner packed into a giant Yorkshire pudding, running in Camden since 2015, with the gravy properly built from meat juices and reduced wine rather than a powder. The execution is better than the concept deserves. It is a market lunch that trades on novelty, so it belongs on the board without pulling anyone across town for it.
