Desde 1911
Desde 1911 serves a single fish as the main course, the finest catch Pescaderías Coruñesas received that day.
Why go
Pescaderías Coruñesas, the fishmongers, opened their own restaurant in November 2021 in an old pump workshop on calle del Vivero.3 The house calls itself a tribute to the founding family and to the muleteers who carried fish to Madrid: Since 1911 Madrid has been the best port in Spain.
1 In December 2021 Gastroactitud found each day starting with a morning call from Diego García, the owner of the restaurant and of Pescaderías Coruñesas. He chose the best fish and shellfish in from Spain's fish markets.3 The MICHELIN inspectors gave it a star and call it a true ode to PRODUCE, in capitals
in the 2026 guide.2
You choose three to six of the day's six starters, then eat the one fish, then pick from the cheese and dessert trolleys.1 The inspectors wrote: You will always find a raw dish, a marinated one and a spoon dish, and magnificent cheese and dessert trolleys.
2 Diego Murciego cooks, and Abel Valverde, formerly of Santceloni, runs the room.1 Valverde won the National Gastronomy Award for best head waiter in 2008 and chooses the cheeses.7 Hugo Muñoz, the chef of Ugo Chan, celebrated a birthday here and wrote in October 2025: This is excellence in the handling of fish, always with the best product.

Julia Pérez Lozano of Gastroactitud ate the menu of 30 December 2021, weeks after the opening, and scored it 8 out of 10.3 She had inshore sole two ways, meunière and fried: The sauce is perfectly done. Just enough lemon and a magic touch of caper. The frying impeccable.
3 She called the Carril clams in a potato stew and the Roses espardeñas with peas and black truffle two excellent dishes.
3 She found the room a little cold from sheer bareness,
where Eater's Paula Móvil calls it one of the most beautiful restaurants Madrid has ever seen.
6
Her menu cost 130 euros for three starters and the fish, and 150 for five, with a dessert or cheese included. Caviar and grilled angulas (baby eels) cost extra.3 Pablo Cabezali and a friend ordered the whole carta in August 2025 and paid more than 600 euros.8
Order this / avoid
- Order: the Galician lobster salpicón, which Julia Pérez Lozano (2022) found cut
in big, juicy slices.
3 - Order: a marmitako of Galician lobster with its potatoes and roe if it is on. Macarena Escrivá (El Español, 2021) called hers one
to remember.
5 - Avoid: the gratinated changurro of Galician spider crab. Julia Pérez Lozano (2022):
But doing that to a good Galician spider crab seems to me a sacrilege.

Verdict
should-visit — Go for the one fish of the day from Pescaderías Coruñesas' catch, and stay for the cheese trolley. It doesn't come cheap: the shortest menu was 130 euros in December 2021, and two people ordering everything paid more than 600 in August 2025.
