Ana and Javi opened Hop Scotch in Los Guindos in 2014 with a manifesto printed on the menu, listing what they would not sell.
Why go
They opened the bar in April 2014 on Calle Correo de Andalucía, in Los Guindos, south of the city centre.41 Their beer habit predates the bar: a passion born back in the distant 1999 in Ireland, and which grows year after year through our passing through different countries: Holland, Belgium, the United Kingdom, the United States.

The menu they printed in 2014, and still publish, sets out one list of what the bar is and a sharper list of what it is not: Hop Scotch is NOT 'double malt' or beer at minus two degrees / Hop Scotch is NOT pink gin / Hop Scotch is NOT music on request / Hop Scotch is NOT money for corporations / Hop Scotch is NOT the fashionable bar / Hop Scotch is NOT the bar that repeats itself thirty times in every neighborhood.

Order this / avoid
- Drink: whatever is on the eight taps. They ran 5 to 7 euros in September 2026, with PINTA's Polish Crew IPA, Garage Beer Co.'s Bruma, RIOAZUL's Hidden Lager at 5, SOMA's Froth imperial IPA at 7 and The Kernel's Export India Porter among them.1
- Drink: a smoked whisky. The house writes its own whisky notes:
at the hop we are big fans of smoked whiskies.

we find a great many tables and quite comfortable chairs, where with almost the same calm, the same relaxed atmosphere, and where depending on the season you can see different illustrations and paintings that artists exhibit, we can enjoy our favorite drink (on the terrace too).

In Los Guindos area south from the city center, you'll find a pub called Hop Scotch Craft Beer & Whisky, a popular venue for tasting craft beers from around the world, and whiskey too, as the name implies, since 2014.

Good to know
- Timing: shut Monday and Tuesday. It opens in the evening for the rest of the week and runs late on Friday and Saturday.15
- Booking: walk in.
- Take-home: every beer on tap is sold in a can at the same price through the house's own shop. The bar also does crowlers, filled to order, and kegs.15
- The room: a bar at the front, a second room of tables behind it and a terrace, with exhibitions by local artists on the walls, changing through the year.31 Board games and an arcade machine are on the house's own list.1
- Paying: cards are taken, and pets and children are welcome.5

Verdict
could-visit — Eight rotating taps at 5 to 7 euros, a wall of whisky and a room built for sitting in: a front bar, a second room of tables behind it and a terrace, with local artists' work on the walls. Ana and Javi opened it in April 2014 in Los Guindos, a long way south of where visitors eat, and printed a menu saying what they were not going to sell. Nobody has published an account of eating or drinking here since 2015, which is why it sits where it does rather than higher.
