Bistro Jeanty
Philippe Jeanty has cooked classic French in Yountville for over twenty years. Every menu page on his site is dead, so I have no dish to point you at.
Why go
Jeanty leads the kitchen and the restaurant is family run.1 He calls it his passion project and puts the aim in one line: fresh, quality ingredients, meticulously prepared and graciously served in a comfortable, informal setting.
1 The food changes with the seasons.1 It has run this way for over twenty years.2
Order this / avoid
- Avoid: arriving expecting the wine-country tasting-menu format. Jeanty cooks bistro food and says so on his own front page.1
Good to know
- Booking: recommended. The restaurant sells gift cards through Toast, which is also where ordering lives.
- Hygiene: not established. No inspection instrument for this county is on file here.
Verdict
could-visit — Philippe Jeanty has run this bistro for more than twenty years and states his aim in one sentence about ingredients and cooking rather than about the valley, which is the kind of intent worth taking seriously. The problem is that no menu path on his domain answers and no bylined review was read, so I cannot tell you a single thing he actually cooks. A twenty-year Yountville bistro almost certainly deserves better than this rung, and the evidence in hand does not earn it one.
