Tom Eddy Winery
Single-vineyard Napa Cabernets pulled straight out of the barrel in the cave, then the finished bottles beside them. $150, two hours, poured by the owner.
Why go
You taste in the cave, looking out at Mount St Helena and the Palisades.2 Kerry Eddy runs the tastings herself as owner and sommeliere, one party at a time, which is why there are exactly two slots a day.1 Take the barrel tasting: a private tour, single-vineyard Napa Cabernets sampled out of wood, then the current releases against them, with a cheese and charcuterie plate, two hours, $150.1 The shorter version at $100 skips the barrels and covers the property, the winery and the cave in an hour and a half.1 The house line on the wine is that it holds them back: mountain-grown Cabernets on a long aging program, not released until they are ready.2
Order this / avoid
- Order: the barrel tasting. Tasting a single-vineyard Cabernet out of wood beside the bottled version is the whole education, and $50 more than the alternative.1
- Avoid: bringing a dog. Well-behaved children are welcome, dogs are not, which is the reverse of most tasting rooms around here.1
- Avoid: mid-April and late June. The winery closed its book from 13 to 27 April and 14 to 30 June in 2026.1
What locals & experts say
- Tom Eddy Winery, on how the wine is held:
Known for mountain grown cabernets and a special aging program, the Tom Eddy wines aren't released until they are perfect.
2 - The same winery, on the barrel tasting:
Enjoy a Private, Owner-led Tour and Barrel Tasting in our Wine Cave, enjoying samples of Single-Vineyard Napa Cabernets, followed by a tasting of our Current Releases, paired with a charcuterie & cheese plate.

Both are the winery on itself. The other quotes on that page are guests signing with initials, and I will not pass those off as a review, so I have no outside call on the wine.
Good to know
- Booking: email info@tomeddywinery.com. Every tasting starts at 10:30am or 2:30pm, Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays, and a card holds the slot.1
- Groups above six need special arrangement and event pricing.1
- Hygiene: not established. No inspection instrument for this county is on file here.
Verdict
could-visit — The $150 barrel tasting is the reason to drive out Highway 128: single-vineyard Napa Cabernets pulled out of wood in the cave, then the finished bottles beside them, poured by the owner with a cheese board. Two hours, two slots a day at 10:30 and 2:30, Monday through Saturday, booked by email with a card held. Kerry Eddy runs the tasting herself as owner and sommeliere, which is why it is one party at a time and why six is the ceiling before you have to ask. Check the calendar first, because they close the book for two stretches in spring and early summer. Nothing outside the winery has been read on these wines, so the rung is the access and the format.
