Buttercup Bake Shop
Jennifer Appel opened Magnolia Bakery in Greenwich Village in July 1996. Three years later she left it and started Buttercup Bake Shop on her own, in August 1999.1 Cupcakes are the thing she is known for. The one door she lists today is on Madison Avenue in Midtown.3
Why go
The card runs cupcakes and mini cupcakes, cheesecakes, bars and brownies, bundt slices, cookies and pudding cups.3 I haven't found anyone writing about the baking here.
There is no Buttercup counter at 41-21 28th Street in Long Island City. The city's health department has no food permit at that address, and it holds two for Buttercup, both in Manhattan.2
