Dear Irving Gramercy
The Raines Law Room team runs this cocktail room on Irving Place. It takes bookings and walk-ins both, and there are small plates alongside the drinks.
Why go
Katherine Lewin and Hillary Reinsberg wrote it up in December 2017 as a first-date room, and that is the whole published record on this address (The Infatuation). The group also runs Dear Irving on Broadway and Dear Irving on Hudson, and this room is the one at 55 Irving Place.
Order this / avoid
- Avoid: turning up at the wrong door. Three rooms carry the name and only this one is on Irving Place.
What locals & experts say
- The Infatuation (20 December 2017):
Owned by the people behind Raines Law Room, this is a classy cocktail spot. It's a good first date move—they even take reservations (though walk-ins are fine too) and have some small plates of food too.

Good to know
- Timing: evenings, into the small hours at the end of the week.
- Booking: reservations and walk-ins both, and the room is 21 and over.
- The gap: I have found no drink named here in print, and nothing written about the address since 2017.
Verdict
could-visit — Use this one as a fallback, which is a real job and the job it does well. I would not send anyone across town for it. Go when the plan has already fallen through.
