Family Meal at Blue Hill
Dan Barber's Greenwich Village room holds one MICHELIN star and a Green Star in the 2025 guide. There is one menu and it changes with the season. The vegetables come down from the farm at Stone Barns. It goes out family style.
Why go
Grains and proteins are woven through behind the vegetables. The inspector writes that knowing when to leave something alone takes confidence in your material, and that this kitchen has it.
There is an a la carte bar menu. The kitchen says it uses the whole product and feeds people who cannot sit through the long version.
Order this / avoid
- Order: whatever the fixed menu is that week.
- Order: off the bar card when you have an hour and not an evening.
- Avoid: arriving with a dish in mind.
What locals & experts say
- The kitchen, in its own words on the MICHELIN Guide page:
We have a small roof garden of herbs, flowers and some select vegetables that is maintained by managers and daytime staff. Composting is fully implemented, with a portion of the compost used to make chicken feed.
1 - The MICHELIN inspector, 2025 New York selection: sustainability guides every move in this intimate room, and the team clearly shares the chef's passion and pride.1
Good to know
- Getting in: book. Dinner runs most nights and lunch is a weekend thing.
- Not the farm: Blue Hill at Stone Barns is a separate restaurant in Tarrytown, at two stars and a Green Star. This page is the city room.
Verdict
should-visit — Book the dining room weeks out and clear the evening for it. Go hungry.
