Los Mariscos
The battered fish taco is $4.95.7 Katherine Lewin rated this counter 8.5 for The Infatuation.1 It sits inside Chelsea Market and has its own door on 15th Street.4
Why go
In Tijuana and Ensenada the seafood carts and the meat carts are separate trades.5 Time Out reports that split as the idea here.5 The same people run Los Tacos No. 1 next door.4 Their own account is three friends out of Tijuana and Brawley, California, cooking family recipes.6 So the shellfish gets its own counter. A raw bar runs Ensenada-style clams and oysters.4
The ceviche especial is the dish Robert Sietsema ranked second of everything he ate at Chelsea Market in February 2021.4 It is $7.75 now.7
Order this / avoid
- Order: two fish tacos and one shrimp. That is Lewin's running order.1
- Order: the ceviche especial. The fish and the shrimp versions cost less and carry one thing each.74
- Order: the shrimp aguachile, $22. Raw shrimp goes in serrano or chiltepin lime juice. The scallop version costs a dollar more.7
- Avoid: the enchilado taco. At $6.25 it is the dearest of the three. Lewin puts it last:
the spicy sauce covering the shrimp just isn't necessary - these are too good on their own.

What locals & experts say
- Robert Sietsema, in Eater NY's Chelsea Market round-up (24 February 2021):
a selection of lime-marinated shrimp, clams, scallops, and octopus mounted on a crisp tostada, with a bonus of ripe avocado dropped on top.
4 - Bryan Kim, The Infatuation's editorial lead in New York, in his Chelsea guide:
Their crispy fish taco easily ranks in the city's top five, and the cold, tangy aguachiles are exactly what you need on a hot summer day.
2 - Willa Moore, putting it on The Infatuation's tacos guide beside Birria-Landia and Taqueria Al Pastor:
Everything at Los Mariscos, from the people behind Los Tacos No. 1, tastes like it was caught from an ocean five minutes ago.

- Where: the Main Concourse of Chelsea Market. It trades every day and runs latest on Friday and Saturday.8
Verdict
should-visit — Walk in; nobody here takes a name. I would put the fish above the shrimp every time.
