Nubeluz
Nubeluz is Jose Andres's bar on the 50th floor of the Ritz-Carlton in NoMad. Its windows give 270 degrees of the southern tip of Manhattan. The name joins nube and luz, cloud and light.13
Why go
Morgan Carter reviewed it for Time Out New York in February 2026. She gave it four stars out of five. The walls are greenish-blue velvet and the booths are pink and curved. The servers waft an aromatic cloud at you before you have worked out what is happening.1
The food is built for the setting. Oysters arrive under pickled foams on a platter of dry ice. The tea sandwiches are grilled cheese with truffle butter to dip. The caviar turns up on tacos under thin jamon Iberico.1 Bryan Kim's line on the small plates is that they taste like the hors d'oeuvres at an exceptionally nice wedding.2
The drinks are rewritten classics, everything from an adonis to a tom collins.3 Carter's complaint is worth as much as her four stars. A $44 Maker's Mark cocktail drinks like an ordinary Manhattan. Gold leaf turns up for no reason she could find.1
Order this / avoid
- Order: the oysters. Pickled foams go over the top and dry ice under the platter. It is the one piece of theater here that arrives with something to eat.1
- Order: the high tea at the weekend, in brunch hours. It runs sweet and savory with a glass of champagne.3
- Avoid: the gold leaf. It is the part Carter could not justify.1
What locals & experts say
- Morgan Carter, Time Out New York's food and drink editor, on the windows:
Wow, the window cleaner here deserves a raise.
1 - Bryan Kim, The Infatuation's editorial lead in New York, in February 2023, on the room: the floor-to-ceiling windows give
a panoramic view so impressive it looks computer-generated.
2 - 50 Best Discovery calls the menu a contemporary re-envisioning of classics and warns that the dress code is cocktail attire only.3
Good to know
- Dress: the two accounts differ. 50 Best says cocktail attire, strictly enforced; Kim found it no T-shirts and no baseball hats, and otherwise not uptight.32
- For dinner: Zaytinya, also Jose Andres, is on the ground floor of the same building.2
Verdict
should-visit — Book, and dress for it. Take one of the mirrored two-tops against the glass, order a classic without the theater, and let the windows do the work.
