A palm-sized sign on Sixth Avenue is the whole shopfront. The sushi counter is up the stairs behind it: twelve seats at black marble.1 Neha Talreja rated it 7.8 for The Infatuation.1
Why go
The room is built on Tokyo's standing counters. Sets are the only thing on the menu. Toppings stop at a squeeze of lemon or a dot of yuzu.1 The chefs work from pre-sliced fish and hand each person two pieces at a time, so the counter keeps turning and nobody lingers. They pour no alcohol at all.1
The house calls its own format the art of omakase meets fast-casual dining.
4 I have found no review of this door newer than Talreja's.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the largest of the three sushi sets, $47 in August 2024, which carries nine pieces of nigiri, three hand rolls and a mini kaisendon of chopped toro.1
- Order: the unagi hand rolls that come round on the a la carte list at the end of a set.1
- Order: a hand roll set instead if you are eating fast at lunch. They ran $18 to $28 for three to six, with toro, scallop and botan ebi prawn charged on top.1
- Avoid: treating the set as dinner. Talreja left hungry enough to add two hand rolls and some nigiri, and that took the bill to about $65 for sixteen pieces.1
What locals & experts say
- Neha Talreja, rating it 7.8 for The Infatuation on 27 August 2024, on what the money buys:
bouncy scallops, fatty toro, and vinegary rice sourced from Hokkaido, all for around $30 or $40.
1 - Melissa McCart, the lead editor of Eater's Northeast region, on 4 September 2025: the counter
earned a reputation for one of the city's most affordable, high-quality omakase experiences, often drawing two-hour waits.

Good to know
- Finding it: at the top, take the first door on the right.1
- Which door: this page is 876 Sixth Avenue. A second Sendo opened at 43 West 8th Street in Greenwich Village, where Guy Allen and chef Tsuyoshi Takahashi, thirty years at the trade and formerly of Sushi Noz, run a longer menu with nigiri from $3.3
Verdict
could-visit — Nobody takes a booking here. Leave your name and drink somewhere else until the text comes, or come for lunch at the weekend, which is the closest this gets to a Tokyo quick stop.
