two8two Bar & Burger
The burger is a five-ounce patty under roasted poblano chilies and a spicy creamy sauce, in a Martin's roll.1 Billy Thanopoulos has run it since 2011.12
Why go
The restaurant takes its name from the building's number.2 The room seats fifty-five in wood and brick, with a chestnut bar.1 The rest of the menu is hot dogs, fries, salads and bar plates.12
Order this / avoid
- Order: the two8two burger as the house builds it, poblano and sauce, nothing added.1
- Order: a hot dog beside it if you are two. The kitchen grills them and they run a quarter pound.21
- Avoid: stacking it. The patty is five ounces and the toppings were picked for that weight.1
What locals & experts say
- Time Out New York, on the sourcing (20 April 2011): the owner

1 - The kitchen's own account of itself:
We are a fast-casual neighborhood spot in Brooklyn - New York City, specializing in fresh, made-daily burgers and classic bar fare.
2 - The limit: I have not found a critic's review of this room.
Good to know
- Where: 282 Atlantic Avenue, between Boerum Place and Smith Street, in Boerum Hill.1
- Getting there: the A, C and G to Hoyt-Schermerhorn, or the F and G to Bergen Street.1
- To drink: eight draft lines, with Sixpoint and Kelso named among them when Time Out counted.1
