Manresa Bread (Los Gatos)
Manresa's bakery still bakes in Manresa's town. The restaurant closed with three stars at the end of 2022; the counter on N Santa Cruz Ave runs 8am to 3pm.
Why go
This is the home-town door of the bakery that grew out of Manresa, David Kinch's three-Michelin-star restaurant, which closed here at the end of 2022 after 20 years.3 Kinch remains a partner, per the Michelin Guide's February 2026 county feature.2 The Bywater, his Creole room, sits a few blocks up the same street, so the two make one stop.3 Nobody in print names the counter's loaves, so I can't point you at one; the pedigree is the sourced fact.
Order this / avoid
- Avoid: arriving after 3pm. The counter closes then.1
Good to know
- Hours: 8am to 3pm daily at 40 N Santa Cruz Ave; pre-order and same-day pickup run through the site.1
- Five doors: Los Gatos, Los Altos, Campbell, Palo Alto and Santa Cruz.1
Verdict
could-visit — Geography is the extra reason to pick this door over the other four: the Bywater sits a few blocks up the same street, so Kinch's whole post-Manresa Los Gatos makes one walk. Michelin's February 2026 county feature still names him a partner in the bakery, in the town where the restaurant earned its three stars. Nobody in print names an individual loaf, which is all that holds it back.
