Every drink on the list is built from three or four ingredients. Todd Smith and Ryan Fitzgerald opened the room on 16th Street. They put a second bar, Over Proof, on the mezzanine above it. The house drink is a pineapple sherry that used to be off the menu. Camper English put it on his 2024 list of fifty San Francisco cocktails.
Why go
The Tarragon Fix runs tequila, absinthe and pineapple against the herb. The Gin & Celery puts a vegetal edge on a gin and tonic.1 The back bar carries a wide range of Del Maguey. Calisterio says that shelf could make the place a mezcal bar on its own.3
The food runs shrimp tacos, trumpet mushrooms and chicken chow mein, and the burger goes late.3
The house dropped the delivery apps and says so on its own page. Takeout is ordered at the bar.8
Order this / avoid
- Order: the pineapple sherry, by name.
- Order: the burger if you are here late. Julia Chen calls it one of the best in the city.6
What locals & experts say
- Anissa Dingle, co-owner of Dingle's Public House, to Lena Park for The San Francisco Standard in November 2025: she starts what she calls the
Valencia stroll
with a Lefty's Highball here, then Bernal Cutlery, then dinner at Lolo.4 - Esther Mobley, San Francisco Chronicle, October 2024:
Also on offer is exemplary bar food, all of which is intended to be consumed without utensils. (Hand wipes are provided.)
1 - Ricky Rodriguez, The Infatuation, February 2024: the room is
nice without feeling too fancy, and chill without feeling too dingy.

should-visit — The bar runs late every day of the week, so this is the room for after something else.
