Greg St. Claire founded Avenir Restaurant Group in the summer of 1993, starting with Mistral in Redwood Shores, and owns it. Avenir runs four rooms today: Town in San Carlos, Milagros in Redwood City, Nola in Palo Alto and the historic Alpine Inn in Portola Valley, which his team reopened in August 2019. With James Guaspari he bought a Loma Rica ranch in 2011 and started Rancho Alena Cattle Co., which supplies Avenir.
