Thanasis Pashalidis is co-owner of Taverna in Palo Alto, which he opened at 800 Emerson Street in April 2018 with Hakan Bala. Born in Queens to parents from northern Greece, he worked at Kokkari in San Francisco, then at Evvia in Palo Alto, where he met Bala in 2008 when both were servers, and then at the MICHELIN-starred Village Pub in Woodside. Taverna is still trading and opened a second room in Portola Valley in March 2025.
