Wooden Charcoal Korean Village Barbecue House
The grills here burn charcoal. Ricky Rodriguez went for the charcoal. He scored the room 7.2 for The Infatuation in February 2024 and found the beef too lean to use it.
Why go
Rodriguez's problem is the cuts. The meat lacks the marbling and the seasoning to give charcoal anything to work on.1 One desk has eaten here and published, and I haven't found a second.
The reason to walk through this door is that you can. Rodriguez says a seat here is easier to get than at other places in the neighborhood. He would send anyone with time to spare to Brothers, at 4128 Geary. Julia Chen rated Brothers 8.1 for the same outlet, two weeks before he filed.2
Order this / avoid
- Order: nothing I can name for you. Rodriguez ate here and printed no dish, so I have no cut to send you in for.
- Avoid: ordering for the marbling. He says it is not there.1
What locals & experts say
- Ricky Rodriguez, The Infatuation, February 2024, 7.2:
Meat just tastes better when it's cooked on real charcoal, so we expected the casual Richmond KBBQ spot Wooden Charcoal Barbecue House to be excellent—but charcoal can't do all the heavy lifting.
1 - Julia Chen, The Infatuation, January 2024, on Brothers: it
uses charcoal rather than gas grills, which lends a deep smokiness to the already-flavorful meats.

Verdict
could-visit — It is a fallback and a decent one. Go when Brothers has a wait.
