LUNA Mexican Kitchen - San Jose
Jo Lerma-Lopez presses the nixtamal tortillas in house, makes the chorizo on site and cooks Rancho Gordo beans. Michelin gave this room a Bib Gourmand in the 2026 California selection.
Why go
Jo Lerma-Lopez owns this and cooks it, and the buying is where the kitchen shows. The Michelin inspector lists the supply chain by name: Rancho Gordo beans, Mary's free-range chicken, and house-made staples like chorizo, stocks and sauces.
1 The name is an acronym before it is the moon: local, unrefined, natural, authentic.2
The Bib is new. It came with the California selection that took the guide's Bib Gourmand count to 117, and it is scored against 1495 The Alameda.1 The operator's second room is in Campbell.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the Baja-style fish tacos, which the guide singles out as crisp.1
- Order: a parrillada if there are a few of you. It arrives sizzling with the nixtamal tortillas and the charro beans.1
- Avoid: carrying the Bib to the Campbell door. Michelin scored this address.

Verdict
should-visit — One anonymous inspector is carrying everything I know about this kitchen, which is thin for a rung this high. What makes it usable is that the inspector named a supply chain and a technique, both of which a reader can check on the plate. Michelin ate here in June 2026 and nobody else has published since, so the Bib is the newest thing anybody knows about this kitchen.
