Tubs Gourmet Sub Sandwiches
Tubs builds thirty-six sandwiches on baguettes, and Aimee Rizzo could not stop writing about the cup of ranch that comes with them.
Why go
Tubs moved out to Bothell from Lake City and kept the list long.1 Thirty-six builds, on baguettes Rizzo called anatomically perfect, running from a cheesesteak crossed with a French dip to the Chicken Amiga.1 That one is sliced chicken, cheddar, bacon, a shake of the barbecue spice you would normally find on potato chips, Tapatio, and ranch on the side.1 Rizzo's verdict on it was one word: masterpiece.1
Order this / avoid
- Order: the Chicken Amiga with the ranch.1
- Order: anything else that comes with the ranch or the garlicky aioli, which Rizzo says is the pattern worth following.1
- Order: a chocolate chip cookie. They bake them, and sometimes a rice crispy treat made with Froot Loops turns up.1
What locals & experts say
- Aimee Rizzo, The Infatuation Seattle, 8 February 2023, rated 8.5:
If we lived in an alternate universe where subs were the only food left on earth, we'd probably choose to eat at Tubs for every meal.

Good to know
- Which door: this is the Bothell shop on Beardslee Blvd, the one Rizzo reviewed after the move from Lake City.1
- Hygiene: King County's last visit was 5 June 2026. The visit scored 5 points on a single violation, raw meats stored below and away from ready-to-eat food, and the result line reads Unsatisfactory. The rolling grade is Excellent.2
Verdict
could-visit — Aimee Rizzo gave it 8.5 at The Infatuation and spent the review on the sandwiches themselves, the barbecue spice, the Tapatio, the dip that carries half the menu, which is what a sub shop should be judged on. That is one reviewer, one visit, February 2023, and no second voice is on the record. The shop's own site puts out two lines of marketing and nothing you could check. A strong single review at a dollar-sign price puts it here and no higher.
