Parker-Lusseau Pastries
Anne Parker Johnson and Yann Lusseau handed the bakery to Jeanne Brooks of Bees Knees Bakery in spring 2026. It bakes out of the Fremont Adobe on Hartnell Street, and the counter opens at 7:30 in the morning.
Why go
The handover is the news and it is the whole news. Jacqueline Weixel put it plainly on 2 April 2026: the founders are passing the pin
to Brooks, who had been selling at local farmers markets for a few years first. What the bakery had built up to that point shows in who bought from it rather than in any review we found. When Happy Girl Kitchen opened around the point in Pacific Grove in 2010, its sandwiches came on Parker-Lusseau ciabatta. The record on the new kitchen is empty, and this page will say so until somebody writes about it.
Order this / avoid
- Order: what is on the counter, and phone ahead for a cake.
- Avoid: the website's contact form. The bakery says outright,
We aren't able to fulfill orders placed via our contact form,
and asks you to call instead.2
What locals & experts say
- Monterey County Weekly (Jacqueline Weixel, 2 April 2026): Brooks
has been popping up at local farmers markets for a few years, and if you've had the pleasure of trying one of her baked goods, you know this is not bad news.
1 - Monterey County Weekly (Pat Tanumihardja, 4 November 2010): Happy Girl Kitchen's opening lunch sandwiches were
served on Parker-Lusseau ciabatta.

Good to know
- Timing: the venue's own hours, read 21 August 2026, are Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4pm and Saturday 7:30am to 3pm. The April 2026 handover note told readers to watch for an opening date, so call before a long drive.
- The building: the Historic Fremont Adobe on Hartnell Street, which is a block off Alvarado.
- Getting there: old-town Monterey, walking distance from the brewpub and the wharf.
Verdict
listed — A French bakery in the Fremont Adobe that changed hands in 2026, from Anne Parker Johnson and Yann Lusseau to Jeanne Brooks of Bees Knees Bakery. The one hard signal on the cooking is indirect and it is the good kind: other kitchens on this day out bought their bread here, and Happy Girl Kitchen was serving its opening sandwiches on Parker-Lusseau ciabatta in 2010. It sits at listed rather than higher because nobody we read has described what comes out of the oven, and because the handover is four months old.
