Dutcher Crossing Winery
Dogs come into the tasting room, onto the patio and onto the lawn, and Lady the Labrador is usually on the door. The winery sits on the Dry Creek Road cycling route, ten minutes above Healdsburg.1
Why go
The winery sits on thirty-five acres in the northern Dry Creek Valley, and you get vineyard and hillside views from the tasting room, the breezeway and the patio.1 The road outside is one of the better cycling routes in the county and the winery is directly on it, which is a real reason to plan a stop here rather than up a side road.1 Some of the tasting options are built to sit alongside a picnic you bring.1
Order this / avoid
- Avoid: booking and then not showing. It is $50 a person.1
- I have no wine to point you at. The winery names none on anything I could read.
Good to know
- Reservations are recommended and walk-ins are taken as space allows. Book on 707-431-2700 or through reservations@dutchercrossingwinery.com.1
- Wine club pickups are scheduled by email rather than dropped in on.1
Verdict
could-visit — The winery sits on thirty-five acres at the top of the Dry Creek Valley with the road running past the gate, which makes it a genuine stop on a bike ride rather than a detour. Dogs come into the tasting room as well as onto the patio and the lawn, and a Labrador called Lady greets people most days. The tasting options are built so you can bring a picnic. What I cannot do is tell you what to drink: the winery names no wine, no varietal and no price on anything I could read, and calls its wines award-winning without naming an award. So what is rated here is the visit rather than the bottle.
