Jordan Vineyard & Winery
Tom and Sally Jordan built a Bordeaux chateau in Alexander Valley in the 1970s and have made two wines ever since, chardonnay and cabernet. Jesse Mallgren cooks the pairings, after 25 years running the kitchen at Madrona Manor.3
Why go
The winery says it has focused on three things since the 1970s: chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and hospitality.4 That is a narrow list for a 1,200-acre estate, and more than three quarters of the land is left as wild open space.4 The chardonnay comes off the Russian River and the cabernet off Alexander Valley.3 Mallgren arrived in 2023, which is why the tasting here is a seated food and wine pairing rather than a flight at a bar.3 World's 50 Best Vineyards ranks the estate No. 13 and named it the best vineyard in North America for 2025.2

- Estate tours run in a Mercedes Sprinter out to the far corners of the 1,200 acres.3
- The loyalty program is free with the mailing list, and it unlocks the small-party pairings and the chateau overnight stays.5
Verdict
should-visit — The ranking is real and it was read on the ranking body's own page: No. 13 in the world and the Best Vineyard in North America for 2025, judged on the wine and on the visit together. Jesse Mallgren is the reason the visit half holds up, since he ran the kitchen at Madrona Manor for 25 years before taking this one in 2023, and the pairings are the product here rather than a bar pour. Set against that, nobody independent has published a line on what is in the glass, and the two people quoted anywhere in the record are the CEO and the winery. That keeps it a rung below the top.
