Lagunitas Brewing Company
All the Chicago brewing came home to this McDowell Boulevard brew house in August 2024. Heineken has owned the place outright since 2017, and the IPA was still the best-selling one in the country by Nielsen's count.12
Why go
Lagunitas started in California in 1993, opened a Chicago brewery in 2014 and a Seattle taproom in 2017, and closed both, Seattle in 2023 and Chicago in 2024.1 Everything brews here now.1 The beers sell in 35 countries and the first overseas taproom opened in Amsterdam, where Heineken keeps its head office.2
I could not get at the brewery's visitor pages, and nothing else I read carries the same facts. So I have no hours for you, no tour price and nothing about the food.
Good to know
- The brewery is at the pin. The Press Democrat calls 1280 N McDowell Boulevard the original brew house, and that is where the Chicago production went.1
- Heineken International has owned it outright since 2017.2
- Maria Stipp, then chief executive, citing Nielsen: Lagunitas
remains the No. 1 IPA in the country, finishing the year up 3.1% in sales.
That is her statement and her year.2 - Call ahead. Nothing I could read establishes when the Petaluma taproom is open.
Verdict
listed — Lagunitas sells in 35 countries and opened its first international taproom in Amsterdam, where Heineken keeps its head office. Maria Stipp said in a statement, citing Nielsen, that the beer finished a hard year up 3.1 percent in sales. The Chicago brewery closed in 2024 and the Seattle taproom went in 2023, so Petaluma is the whole operation now. I cannot give you an hour, a tour price or a word about how any of it tastes, because nothing I could read publishes them. Call the taproom first.
