Kitty Cohen's
A patio bar with an outdoor kitchen it hands over to other people.3
Why go
It is a 21-and-over patio bar on Webberville Road, open until 2am seven days a week.3 The part worth knowing is the kitchen out back. The bar says plainly that its outdoor kitchen hosts in-house culinary events, and that it wants to hear from independent chefs and caterers with pop-up restaurant concepts.3 The Infatuation puts the same fact more usefully: the outside pop-up kitchen occasionally hosts dinners and supper clubs, but make sure to check the schedule if you're hoping to get some food.
1 Happy hour runs 3 to 7 on weekdays and the pool table is free on Mondays.3
What locals & experts say
- The Infatuation Austin, Marisa Dunn, 5 December 2022: the room is built as
all the makings of a Palm Springs house in the 1970s: palm trees, a patio with a pool, and that famous photo of naked Burt Reynolds in the bathroom.
She calls the drinksbeachy
and names none of them, which is why nothing is claimed here about what to order.1 - Three Infatuation list placements: The Best Bars For First Dates In Austin, Where To Drink On The East Side, and 16 Great Holiday Pop-Up Bars In Austin. The page carries no score, because The Infatuation only rates places where you can eat a full meal.1
Good to know
- Hours: Monday to Friday 3pm to 2am, Saturday and Sunday noon to 2am.3
- Age: 21 and over.3
- Happy hour: weekdays 3 to 7. Free pool every Monday.3
- Food: there is no permanent menu. What is cooking depends on which pop-up is in the yard, so check before you plan a meal around it.
- Hygiene: Austin Public Health has this bar as the kitchen at 2211 Webberville Rd, with 96 on 20 February 2025 and 94 on 3 August 2023. Both are well clear of the failing line, which in Austin is a score below 70. Nothing newer has been published for the address.4
- Coverage: the bar's own site quotes undated praise from several publications, and I haven't found any of it at the publishers, the Best of Austin 2016 Critics Pick for bar design included.5
Jeff's take (his words)
- Note: "Fun popups." The bar's own page backs him up: the outdoor kitchen is built for in-house culinary events and they invite independent chefs to run concepts through it.
Verdict
could-visit — A 21-and-over patio bar on Webberville Road that The Infatuation reads as a 1970s Palm Springs house dropped into East Austin: palm trees, a pool on the patio, and a famous photograph of a naked Burt Reynolds in the bathroom. The drinks are described as beachy and none of them is named anywhere. The distinguishing feature is a kitchen the bar does not run itself, and the same review supplies the caveat: the outside pop-up only occasionally hosts dinners and supper clubs, so check the schedule before you plan to eat. It opens at 3 on weekdays and noon at weekends, runs to 2am seven days, does happy hour 3 to 7, and gives away the pool table on Mondays. The health register has it at 96 and 94.
