Eat Me
Australian siblings Darren and Cherie Hausler opened Eat Me off Convent Road in 1998, it debuted at No. 19 on the inaugural Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2013, and the Michelin Guide Thailand 2026 selection still carries it.
Why go
Head chef and co-owner Tim Butler came out of Daniel Boulud's and Marcus Samuelsson's New York kitchens, and his menu ignores borders on purpose; Time Out Bangkok, ranking it No. 48 in 2025, describes "creative, utterly unpretentious dishes without the faintest regard for geopolitical boundaries." Michelin's inspectors credit it "since 1998" with "carefully cooked dishes that join global influences with local flavours." The multi-level room doubles as a gallery, with rotating artworks supplied by H Gallery, and the kitchen and bar run to 1am, the latest serious food in this cluster.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the mixed clams with naem, fermented Thai sausage, in a coriander-lime broth, the dish both Michelin and Time Out single out. Then the A5 wagyu tataki or the maitake mushroom with beurre blanc (Time Out), and finish with the sticky date pudding. Start downstairs: bartender Pop Direkrittkul's
Sip Some Thai cocktail menu playfully incorporates the flavour profiles of Thai dishes into cocktails
(Time Out). - Avoid: budgeting it like the rest of the soi. Time Out prices it 4 of 4, the top of this cluster, and mains price accordingly.

Thai food-inspired cocktails at the ground floor bar
before the dining room or balcony.1 - 50 Best Discovery:

3 - Asia's 50 Best Restaurants (2013): No. 19 on the inaugural list, per Grantourismo Travels' Bangkok survey.4
Good to know
- Timing: Monday to Saturday 5pm to 1am, Sunday 11am to 1am with brunch until 5pm; kitchen and bar take last orders at 1am (venue site, checked July 25, 2026).
- Booking: recommended, online at eatmerestaurant.com or by phone 4pm to 6pm; the terrace is the seat to ask for.
- From voco Surawong: about 900m, a 12-minute walk via Convent Road onto Soi Phiphat 2. Som Tam Jay So holds down the same soi by day; Eat Me takes the night shift.
Jeff's take (his words)
- The note: Modern Asian influences with solid western techniques.
- The bar: The cocktails are also good.
Verdict
could-visit — Twenty-seven years of consistent border-free cooking, a 2013 Asia's 50 Best debut at No. 19, and a 2026 Michelin selection make it real, but its current standing is No. 48 on Time Out's list with no Michelin distinction, and the modern-international format exists in every major city. What it uniquely offers this trip is a serious kitchen and bar until 1am, 12 minutes from the hotel. On your way, or after everything else closes, go.
