Oakfire Pizza and Brewing
They brew their own beer on the premises of a downtown Belton pizza place and put the tables on the roof.1
Why go
The owners tell the origin story themselves and it is short: a conversation over a beer about a pizza recipe, in what they call the best town in Texas.
2 The beer gets the same billing as the food. Their line: beer is more than something to enjoy alongside a meal,
brewed with the same attention to quality and balance that goes into every pizza we serve.
1 The room bills itself as the original Belton rooftop, with a garden and a patio under it.1
Order this / avoid
- Order: a pizza and whatever is coming out of the house tanks. The brewery prints no beer list, so ask at the bar.1
- Order: Tony's Signature, a twelve-inch pie on house-made vodka sauce with peas, mushrooms and prosciutto.3
- Avoid: the rooftop in the middle of an August afternoon. Central Texas sun and a roof deck are a bad pairing.1
Good to know
- Where it is: 107 North East Street, a historic building restored for the restaurant, in downtown Belton, with a garden and patio below the roof deck.31
- They cater, which in a town this size is most of what a pizza oven does on a Saturday.1
Verdict
listed — A brewery inside a pizza place in a town of twenty thousand is worth knowing about, and the rooftop is a real reason to pick this door over another one on the same street. Against that, the house has not named a single beer it makes, and no outside account of the food has been established. That is thin evidence for sending anyone across the county, and the rung says so.
