Peticolas Brewing Company
Peticolas took a bronze at the 2023 World Beer Cup for Turtle Kriek, a sour cherry beer.1
Why go
The kriek is not the only medal. Hop Culture lists four more bronzes from the 2022 U.S. Beer Open, in Scottish ale, imperial red ale, Ukrainian golden ale and experimental beer.1 Brian Reinhart calls the brewery probably the most technically accomplished brewery in Dallas
in D Magazine's guide.2 The brewery's own motto, which Hop Culture quotes, is Honest, friendly, down-to-earth brewers delivering world-class passion in a glass.

Order this / avoid
- Ask whether Turtle Kriek is pouring. It is the medal beer and a kriek is a seasonal thing.1
- Order whatever is on the experimental tap, which is a category this brewery has medalled in.1
- Order the Scottish ale or the imperial red if the board has one. Both took bronzes in the same year.1
What locals & experts say
- Brian Reinhart, D Magazine, 2025:
probably the most technically accomplished brewery in Dallas.
He also writes, in the same guide,Full disclosure: this is my fourth year as a paid-up member of the Peticolas club.
2 - Hop Culture, Grace Lee-Weitz, 2025, on the awards:
They've earned a s**t ton of awards.

Good to know
- The medal beer is a kriek, which means sour cherries and a long ferment rather than a fruit syrup at the end.1
Verdict
should-visit — A brewery with a World Beer Cup bronze on a kriek and four more bronzes across Scottish ale, imperial red, Ukrainian golden and experimental beer. Ask whether Turtle Kriek is pouring, and drink the experimental tap beside it.
