Eleven rooms sit down here and most of them are on two streets, which makes this the densest walk in the city. Hamilton Place holds Lannan Bakery, Fortitude Coffee Stockbridge across the road, Smith & Gertrude Stockbridge and eòrna restaurant. St Stephen Street holds Skua, Moss, The Last Word Saloon, Purslane Restaurant and Stockbridge Eating House between them. That short stretch carries a Bib Gourmand, three MICHELIN listings, a bakery La Liste named its Pastry Opening of the Year, and a whisky list past a hundred bottles. Everything down here is small: eòrna is two people, counters and small dining rooms are the norm, and Skua came second after its own chefs had already taken a star elsewhere. The Scran and Scallie sits a few minutes north on Mary's Place and is the room to bring a family to. Fortitude has a house rule that only food bought at Fortitude is eaten in, so do not walk a Lannan box across the road.
