Monteiths
Difford's Guide rated this bar 4.5 out of 5 when it picked Edinburgh's best cocktail bars, and that piece is dated May 2017.1
Why go
That rating is the only professional assessment anybody has published on this room, and nine years is long enough that the bar programme it describes may have turned over several times since.1 The bar's own website refused to load on 7 August 2026, returning an HTTP 403, so nobody can read its hours, its menu or its prices.
Good to know
- Address: 57-61 High Street, on the Royal Mile between the Tron and the Storytelling Centre.
- Booking: nothing published. A small Old Town cocktail room in August is worth booking regardless.
- Hygiene: Food Hygiene Information Scheme Pass, inspected 16 November 2022, FHRSID 66796. Forty-five months old with no reinspection pending.2
- Hours and price: neither is published anywhere reachable.
Verdict
listed — A cocktail bar on the High Street that Difford's Guide rated 4.5 out of 5 when it picked Edinburgh's best cocktail bars, in a piece published in May 2017. That rating is the only professional assessment of this room in the approved record and it is nine years old, which means it describes a bar programme that may not exist any more. The venue's own website refused the fetcher with a 403 on 7 August 2026, so there are no hours, no menu and no prices to give. The health register passed the premises in November 2022 and has not been back. It earns a place on a list because a serious drinks reference once rated it highly on a street that is mostly tourist traffic. It does not earn a detour on evidence that old.
