Half a pizza and half a plate of pasta.

how it is eaten · Glasgow Italian restaurants

Pino Livia put it on the menu at Di Maggio's and called it Jimmy Style, and it is the most Glasgow order on any Italian list in the city. The restaurants came out of the chip shops: Joe Conetta ran a chippy on Macduff Street before he opened Di Maggio's in 1985, which is the Scots-Italian cafe line arriving at the dinner table.

“a half pizza served with half a plate of pasta”

“In 1983, Joe Conetta had a dream. While Italian-Scots before him - like his own dad - had opened cafes, shops, ice cream parlours and chippies, the few Italian restaurants in the city at the time were stuffy and staid.”

“They didn't know what to do ... The only thing they knew about was chip shops.”
