Dishoom Glasgow
The Glasgow menu carries a haggis pau, spiced pork haggis on buttered buns with Carluke's bacon and honeyed chilli chutney, served under the ceilings of the 1877 stock exchange.
Why go
Dishoom took a corner of the old Glasgow Stock Exchange on Nelson Mandela Place, a Grade A listed building of about 6,700 square feet, and opened it on 29 August 2025 as its second Scottish site after Edinburgh (The Caterer). The fit-out by Macaulay Sinclair hangs on a fiction about a 1950s Bombay spy named Xallu Vakil, and it buys real materials: a hardwood bar in aged brass, bespoke marble, geometric terrazzo, vintage parquet and light fittings sourced in Bombay (Scotsman Food & Drink). Two dishes were developed for this address and appear nowhere else in the group. Head chef Pratik Sijapati framed the brief plainly: We have loved creating dishes that feel right at home in Glasgow, a city with such an incredible heritage for South Asian cuisine.
Service starts at 8am and runs to midnight on Friday and Saturday, which makes it one of the few places in the city center that will feed you properly at either end of the day.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the haggis pau at breakfast, which puts spiced pork haggis and Carluke's bacon into a buttered bun with eggs and a honeyed chilli chutney. At dinner take the lamb chettinad with Malabar paratha, a slow-cooked Tamil Nadu curry with coconut, black pepper, curry leaves and dried red chillies. Hector at Curry-Heute confirmed the method landed:
The first dip instantly revealed the hoped for - big smokey hit. Authentic Chettinad
4. The Rob Roy riff uses butter-oat fat-washed whisky against a house currant and sultana liqueur. - Avoid: relying on the chettinad to fill you up. The same visit put it at GBP 19.50 with the paratha and ended with the line
Satisfying, more Curry would have been better, but then it's facing up to city centre prices
4. Order a daal alongside it.
What locals & experts say
- Curry-Heute (Hector, April 2026), the dissent, from a priced first-hand visit:
Tender Meat but with a dry interior. The Lamb had not been given time to absorb the Spices,
and the verdict,If I want to visit a chain in Glasgow, I'll stick with Akbar's.
4 - The Caterer (July 2025), quoting group executive chef Arun Tilak: the team built
a space and a menu that feels authentic to Bombay while celebrating the character of Glasgow and the heritage of its South Asian community.
2 - Scotsman Food & Drink (Rosalind Erskine, August 2025), on the design brief: the interiors run on mid-century modernism and the Bombay Progressives art movement of 1947, with light fittings bought in Bombay.1
- SLTN (July 2025): trade confirmation that Nelson Mandela Place is Dishoom's first Glasgow cafe and second in Scotland.3
- Local rec: Jeff's save, his note below. His year is off by one; the site opened in 2025.
Good to know
- Timing: 8am to 11pm Monday through Thursday and Sunday, 8am to midnight Friday and Saturday. Breakfast service is the quiet window.

Verdict
could-visit — A very well-run Bombay cafe in the old Glasgow Stock Exchange, open from 8am, with two dishes built for this city: a haggis pau with Carluke's bacon and a lamb chettinad with Malabar paratha. The craft is real and consistent, and the room is the best argument for going, all aged brass and terrazzo in an 1877 listed building. It does not clear the detour bar in a city with this much South Asian cooking. Hector at Curry-Heute ate the chettinad and found 'Tender Meat but with a dry interior', then said he would go to Akbar's instead, which is the honest local read on a chain doing a good job.
