Seoul Korean BBQ
Two GlasgowWorld surveys two years apart put this second among the city's Korean restaurants, and no Glasgow critic has ever written about it.
Why go
It opened in 2022 at 24 Cambridge Street, a few steps off Sauchiehall Street, and by June 2024 GlasgowWorld's Liam Smillie was describing it as somewhat of an institution in the city
and telling readers who had not been yet to get down there (GlasgowWorld). The cooking anyone has bothered to describe is the barbecue side, grilled beef and pork, plus bibimbap and a kimchi made in house rather than bought in, which is the one detail here that tells you something about the kitchen's standards. It trades seven days a week for lunch and dinner, so it works as a weekday lunch as much as an evening out. The Food Hygiene Information Scheme inspected the address in August 2025 and rated it a Pass.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the grilled meats, since that is what the name promises, then bibimbap. Ask for the kimchi: both write-ups that name any dish call it
a delicious homemade kimchi,
and house-made kimchi in a barbecue room is worth the sentence2. - Avoid: taking the reputation as a verdict. The institution line belongs to a GlasgowWorld round-up rather than to a reviewer, and no critic has published a visit-based assessment of this kitchen. Also avoid reading the 2025 and 2026 write-ups as two endorsements: they carry the same sentences, and the earlier one is a booking platform's blog.
What locals & experts say
- GlasgowWorld (Liam Smillie, June 2024), second of eight Korean restaurants in Glasgow:
Seoul has become somewhat of an institution in the city since it opened just off Sauchiehall Street a few years ago. It's open 7 days a week.
1 - GlasgowWorld (Declan McConville, February 2026), second of eight again:
Seoul Korean BBQ Restaurant serves all the classics, from grilled beef and pork to bibimbap, alongside a delicious homemade kimchi.
2 - DesignMyNight (Scarlett Welch, January 2025), outside our approved registry and cited for one fact and one warning:
They're open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
Its Seoul entry carries the same sentences GlasgowWorld printed 13 months later, so the two are one source.3 - The gap, stated: The Skinny, The List, Glasgowist, The Glasgow Bell, the Scotsman food desk, the Herald, the Glasgow Times, Time Out and Michelin were all searched. None has covered this venue.
- Local rec: Jeff's save. He left no note on it.
Good to know
- Timing: seven days, lunch and dinner. No exact hours verified.
- Booking: worth calling for a group. There is no website, only social accounts, and our crawler is robots-refused from Instagram.
- Where: 24 Cambridge Street, off Sauchiehall Street. The city-centre Korean cluster around it includes Jay's BBQ Bar on Bath Street, Namu on Hope Street and Sarang on Hope Street.
- Format: the name and its place in Korean-barbecue round-ups say barbecue, but no source we could read confirms grills at the table, so ask when you book if that is the reason you are going.
- Hygiene: the Food Hygiene Information Scheme rates the address a Pass, inspected 26 August 2025.4
Verdict
could-visit — A Korean barbecue room at 24 Cambridge Street, just off Sauchiehall Street, open since 2022 and trading seven days a week for lunch and dinner. GlasgowWorld ranked it second among the city's Korean restaurants in June 2024 and second again in February 2026, and its 2024 writer called it 'somewhat of an institution in the city'. The food named by anyone is grilled beef and pork, bibimbap and a kimchi made in house. It holds a hygiene Pass from August 2025. It stays at could-visit because the reputation rests on listicle placings, the two most recent write-ups turned out to be the same text, and no critic has published a word about the cooking.
