Arbory Bar & Eatery
The bar is 150 metres long because it is built on a railway platform: the Sandridge line ran out of Flinders Street from 1854 until it was pulled up, and this deck took its place.
Why go
For the format. Jackson Clements Burrows put a deck along the Yarra's north bank where the platform used to be, with a shipping container in the middle holding the kitchen, two bars and the bathrooms (Broadsheet). It runs from 11am until late, seven days, and the name comes from the arbor the plane trees make overhead. The drinks are where the buying shows: Broadsheet records a focus on smaller craft beer and cider producers, naming Mornington Peninsula Brewery, Thunder Road, Stone & Wood and Golden Axe Apple Cider. The kitchen keeps it to burgers and sandwiches, and Concrete Playground records the one detail that shows someone cares: the butcher grinds the patties to the kitchen's own meat-to-fat ratio (Concrete Playground).
Order this / avoid
- Order: the double cheeseburger, or the New England lobster roll with shoestring fries and truffle salt. Whatever small producer is on tap. Oysters if it is Thursday evening, when a cart works the deck.
- Avoid: rain. There is no inside here. And do not turn up expecting Arbory Afloat, which is a separate floating venue that moors in front and runs by season.

- Timing: 11am until late, every day, breakfast onward.
- Booking: walk-in.
- Sites: Arbory Bar & Eatery is the deck. Arbory Afloat is the seasonal floating sibling that moors in front of it and keeps its own site and its own theme each summer. They are different venues and coverage of one does not describe the other.
- Kit: a purpose-built beer system, wine on tap and a Hoshizaki ice machine, per Concrete Playground.
- Safety: Victoria publishes no venue hygiene rating. Safe Food Victoria's s.53D register of convictions, fifteen entries at its 21 July 2026 update, does not list this venue.5

On a Saturday afternoon it was very busy with lots of people drinking and enjoying the sunshine. We had a light lunch. The food was light and fresh, although a bit on the expensive side of things. We waited a long time for food, almost too long. I would go back for drinks and small snacks."
