El Fogón (Constituyentes)
They cut tacos al pastor off the trompo from noon until eleven, seven days a week, and quesadillas, gringas and alambres sit behind them. This is the Constituyentes door, between Avenida 25 and Avenida 30.
Why go
Let's Playa's readers voted this address first in the Mexican category of their Playenses Choice poll.1 The pastor comes off a spit and gets cut to order, and the rest of the board runs to quesadillas, gringas and alambres with house salsas.1 El Fogón trades from more than one door in Playa del Carmen, so it is worth knowing which one you are walking to: this is the one on Avenida Constituyentes, between Avenida 25 and Avenida 30.1
Order this / avoid
- Order: tacos al pastor. The poll write-up names them first and names the spit.1
- Order: an alambre if there are two of you and the pastor is not enough.1
Good to know
- Hours: every day, noon to 11:00pm.1
- Which door: Avenida Constituyentes between Avenida 25 and Avenida 30. The Centro door on 30 Avenida Norte is a separate entry.1
- Standing: first in the Mexican category of Let's Playa's Playenses Choice readers' poll. The page names no edition year.1
Jeff's take (his words)
- Note: Saved with no note; the note on my list belongs to the other door.
Verdict
could-visit — The evidence that actually moved things here was identity: the poll page prints Avenida Constituyentes between Avenida 25 and Avenida 30, which is what pins the first place to this door and not to the Centro one. That placement is a readers' vote with no edition year on it, so it measures popularity and dates nothing. The Michelin URL that search engines index for an El Fogón here returns not-found in three locales, so no standing exists to add. Popular, pinned, and unreviewed.
