Forno Campo de' Fiori
The pizza rossa here comes out under a thin layer of tomato and small pools of oil.
Why go
The Infatuation names the two slices that carry the counter: their crispy pizza rossa that's topped with a thin layer of tomato and glistening small pools of oil, or their pizza bianca crowned with thinly sliced potatoes or anchovy and zucchini flowers
(The Infatuation).
Katie Parla's pick here is the sandwich rather than the slice: "The pizza bianca and mortadella sandwich at Forno Campo de' Fiori is amazing and one of my favorite bites in centro" (Katie Parla). She sells paid walking tours in Rome.
Order this / avoid
- Order: a strip of pizza rossa, then the pizza bianca with mortadella.3
- Avoid: looking for a seat. There is none.
What locals & experts say
- The Infatuation (Annie Replogle):
Long strips of pizza bianca get topped with tomato sauce or thinly sliced potatoes, or come stuffed with mortadella or zucchini flowers.
2 - The Infatuation, on where to eat it:
Take it all to go and eat it while leaning against a fountain in view of a palace that Michelangelo designed in the next piazza over.
2 - Daria Reina, co-founder of the Chez Dede boutique (The Relisher, October 2024): she names this counter and Antico Forno Roscioli as the two classic quick bites in the centre and says both are worth the line, for a supplì or a slice.5
Good to know

Verdict
should-visit — Pizza rossa sold by the strip on the busiest square in the centre, and a mortadella sandwich Katie Parla rates among her favourite bites anywhere in it. The Infatuation names the same two slices in two separate guides and adds the anchovy and zucchini-flower version. It stays under must-visit because I have not found a scored review, which for a counter selling four things by weight is where it should stop.
