Supanniga Eating Room, Sathorn 10
Khun Yai Somsri Chantra braised pork with sour cha muang leaves in a pot big enough to feed her family for most of a week; her grandson Thanaruek "Eh" Laoraowirodge built a restaurant group on her 80-year-old Trat and Khon Kaen recipes, and this Sathorn Soi 10 room has served them since early 2016.
Why go
This is the entry point Jeff assigns first-time visitors, and the sources back the logic: Time Out's November 2025 review says the kitchen "runs on Thai grandma love, specifically Grandma Somsri Jantra's, pulling recipes from her Trat and Khon Kaen roots." Eastern-seaboard Trat cooking is the rarity here, fish-sauce-caramelized cabbage and crab-roe relish rather than tourist-menu standards, executed with the balance Jeff flags as the house strength. Michelin has listed the group's Thonglor and Tha Tien rooms since 2018, noting the recipes "add an Isan punch to the cuisine of the eastern provinces of Trat and Chantaburi." BK's verdict when this branch opened: "Supanniga offers exactly the kind of sophisticated native tastes Soi 10 needs."
Order this / avoid
- Order: moo cha muang, which Time Out describes as
fatty pork gone tender under chamuang leaves, with that mineral bite that's almost medicinal
; nam prik khai pu,fat crab and roe... carrying real heat
; the pu jah; and the kalum plee tod nam pla, cabbage fried in Trat fish sauceuntil it caramelises.
- Avoid: reading balance as blandness and ordering off-script for heat; the nam prik carries the fire if you want it. And book the branch you mean: Sathorn 10, Thonglor, and Tha Tien run separate reservations.

Jeff's take (his words)
- Note: A must visit for first time visitors. traditional Thai food, but their strong point is making everything well-balanced - not overly spicy or weird flavors. So you can enjoy delicious, authentic Thai food cooked in a clean kitchen setting. Multiple locations.
Verdict
should-visit — An 80-year-old family repertoire from Trat with a Khon Kaen accent, cooked to the same recipes Grandma Somsri fed her family, in a polished three-level room five minutes from the hotel. The craft argument is balance rather than fire, which is exactly the right first meal in Bangkok, and dishes like moo cha muang and the crab-roe relish are hard to find done this consistently. It stops short of the top rung because consistency, not a career dish, is the headline.
