The East End Fox
The pub at 192 Glasgow Road traded for decades as the Barrachnie Inn, which is why the hygiene register still carries the old name against the address.
Why go
It is a large gastropub in Baillieston, owned by Greene King and run independently, doing lunchtime and evening meals for the east of the city. CAMRA records a garden, a pool table, sports TV and parking, with families and dogs welcome, which reads as a room built for a Sunday rather than a session. The kitchen publishes three menus: a main list the venue calls Foxies, a weekly market menu that changes, and a kids menu. There is no cask ale on, so the beer is keg.
Order this / avoid
- Order: off the market menu if it is running, since that is the one that turns over weekly. The main menu leads with grilled beef and the market list carries fish and chips.2
- Avoid: arriving on a Monday or Tuesday. CAMRA lists the pub open Wednesday to Sunday, and no hours page on the venue's own site was reachable to check it.
What locals & experts say

Good to know
- Timing: Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 11pm or midnight per CAMRA. Confirm before travelling.
- Booking: a booking page runs on the venue site, worth using at weekends given the size of the room.
- Getting there: 192 Glasgow Road at Barrachnie, near Garrowhill station and on the Baillieston bus routes, with parking on site. This is about seven kilometers east of George Square.
- Hygiene: the address holds an FSA/FHIS Pass under the Barrachnie Inn registration, inspected 22 September 2015. The date is stale and there is no adverse finding.

Verdict
listed — A large suburban gastropub on the Baillieston stretch of Glasgow Road, formerly the Barrachnie Inn, doing lunchtime and evening food in a family room with a garden, a pool table and parking. Jeff has it saved for exactly one job, a local pub lunch, and nothing in the sourcing argues for more than that. No cask ale, no reviewed kitchen, and no chef or dish that anybody has written about.
