Clemente Bar
Two rooms above the Eleven Madison Park dining room, built by Daniel Humm with the painter Francesco Clemente: a lounge that takes walk-ins, and a nine-seat counter where Eiji Ichimura is running omakase through the end of the year.
Why go
The Lounge is à la carte, with cocktails the bar describes as highly technical in composition, yet elegantly restrained in presentation
and a menu that rotates.1 The Studio next door is the nine-seat chef's counter. Both rooms were designed by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works and hang one-of-a-kind Clemente works, with lamps by Carsten Höller. Humm's stated model is the Kronenhalle in Zurich, the art-filled bar of his home country. Nobody quoted here has drunk in the room, and the bar's own page is the source for all of the above, so read it as the house saying what it is trying to be.
Order this / avoid
- Order: the Negroni Colada. Dominique Roy, chef de cuisine and partner of the restaurant downstairs, on his own bar:
It's a Negroni and a piña colada, and it's not too strong, it has a nice booziness to it and a little touch of sweetness.
3 To eat, he names the DLT, their BLT built on mushrooms instead of bacon on milk bread, and the mushroom burger. - Avoid: booking the wrong room. The Lounge and The Studio take separate reservations, and the counter runs a multi-course omakase rather than drinks and bar bites.
What locals & experts say
- Jihan Lee (Nami Nori), 2025-12, and he has not been:
Clemente Bar is one of the places I'm most excited to try. It just opened inside Eleven Madison Park. I don't know much about it yet, but I've heard it's more like a performance experience.
2 He had also heard it seats twelve; the bar's own page puts nine at The Studio counter and takes walk-ins at The Lounge. - Dominique Roy, and the disclosure comes first: he is chef de cuisine and partner at Eleven Madison Park and calls this "our bar," so his Negroni Colada and DLT are the house describing its own menu. He is not tagged as an endorsing expert here, and that rule is what makes his picks elsewhere in this city worth citing.
- The house record: Daniel Humm holds three MICHELIN stars at Eleven Madison Park downstairs, per the bar's own about page. That belongs to the restaurant, not to this bar.1
Good to know
- Timing: evenings. Roy's warning is that people cancel what they had planned afterwards.
- Booking: The Lounge takes reservations through the night, and walk-ins on availability. The Studio counter books separately and seats nine.
Jeff's take (his words)
- Note: "New bar from 11 Madison park"
Verdict
could-visit — Two rooms above Eleven Madison Park, built with the artist whose work hangs in them, and a nine-seat counter where Eiji Ichimura is running omakase for the rest of the year. The evidence is thin in a specific way: the only person who describes the drinks is the house's own chef de cuisine, and the one outside voice has not been. The Lounge takes walk-ins, which is what keeps it above listed.
