Mother's Ruin
The Space Billboard is tequila, lime, mango, carrot and habanero, which is a juice-bar build with a chile finish.1
Why go
The bar opened on East Sixth on 7 March 2025, the fourth of a New York cocktail-and-dive room that already runs in Nashville and Chicago, with partner TJ Lynch leading the Austin site.2 It trades 11am to 2am daily with the kitchen open the entire time, which is the practical reason to know it.2 The name is the mid-eighteenth-century nickname for gin.2 The Infatuation rates it 7.5.1
Order this / avoid
- The Space Billboard. Tequila, lime, mango, carrot and habanero. The carrot is what keeps the mango from reading as candy.1
- Emergency Confetti, built on rum, lime, kiwi, watermelon and aperol, or whatever the Slushy du Jour is that day.2
- Cholula honey wings.
The wings are a little on the dry end
, and the sauce isa nice combination of sweet, spicy, and sticky.
1 - The double smashburger.
A textbook smashburger, with a nicely toasted bun and two lightly grilled patties.
1 - Avoid: the caesar and the queso.
There's nothing particularly notable about this caesar, good or bad,
and the green chile quesotastes like every other queso in town.

What locals & experts say
- The Infatuation Austin rates it 7.5, bylined Nicolai McCrary, page dated 6 May 2025.1
- Nicolai McCrary on the pricing, verbatim:
Nearly all of the drinks land in the $13 range, which is a breath of fresh air in Austin's $20+ cocktail scene.
1 - CultureMap Austin, Natalie Grigson, 6 March 2025, reporting the opening: the bar is
so named after the mid-18th century nickname for gin.
An opening report, so it makes no claim about the drinks.2
Good to know
- The kitchen runs to closing. 11am to 2am, every day, food the whole way.2
- Hygiene: no finding, on a thin record. Austin Public Health has one inspection for the kitchen (1401 E 6th St Unit 204 Bldg A), scoring 84 on 19 November 2025. Nothing below the city's failing line of 70, and one visit is all the city has on file for a room that opened in March 2025.3
- It is upstairs in an office building. Suite 204, Building A, sharing the address with Atlassian's staff canteens and an Insomnia Cookies.
Verdict
could-visit — A New York cocktail-and-dive import that landed on East Sixth in March 2025, rated 7.5, open daily 11am to 2am with the kitchen running the whole way. The Space Billboard is tequila, lime, mango, carrot and habanero; the Emergency Confetti is rum, lime, kiwi, watermelon and aperol. Cocktails sit near thirteen dollars. The wings and the smashburger hold up; the queso and the caesar are ordinary and the critic says so.
